Sue is a parent mentor at the Alberta Wellness Center for Eating Disorders (www.albertaWellnessED.com), providing support and coaching for caregivers who have a loved one with an eating disorder. She also has private clients from the USA and across Canada (suehuff.ca/familypeersupport). Sue is the founding Executive Director for the Eating Disorder Support Network of Alberta, author of a book on eating disorders, and the parent of a child who has recovered from Anorexia Nervosa. She is trained in family peer support, emotion focused family therapy, and mediation. Prior to entering the mental health field, Sue had a career as a professional actor, writer and director in theatre, film, TV, and radio. She also did a brief stint as a politician. She lives in Edmonton with her husband and English Setter, Chester.
She is also a TABT with Edmonton Catholic Schools. In case you don't have TABTs in your school district, this is a therapeutic behavioural assistant. She supports children with emotional dysregulation, behavioural, cognitive and medical challenges. A TABT is similar to an EA , but on the same grid as SPLs due to the additional training. She has been a substitute TABT for the past 2+ years and has worked with many different teams, in a variety of schools and settings. She has experience in both inclusive classrooms and congregated sites from preschool to grade 9.
As well, she was a trustee with Edmonton Public Schools and married to a recently retired teacher.
A lot of her presentation pulls from her training as a mediator, peer support training,Emotion Focused Family Therapy, and conflict resolution. As well, she has facilitated difficult conversations between groups and family members.
