Reading Power is a practical approach to comprehension instruction being implemented in many school districts in BC and across Canada. Join BC teacher and author, Adrienne Gear, as explores the strategies for helping students read and make sense of both fiction and nonfiction texts. Whether you are new to the profession, or just looking for a refresher, this session is sure to provide you with the “why’s” and “how’s” of this practical approach to comprehension instruction. Adrienne will introduce the key concepts of Reading Power, share her thinking around meta-cognition and the “language of thinking” associated with reading comprehension.
